Calcite is a common mineral, found in many environments worldwide. Calcite is the main mineral that makes stalagmites and stalactites. It is found in a wonderful range of colours including orange, green, blue, aqua, honey, rosey red, chocolate brown and occasionally black.

Although Calcite works as deep and profound levels, it ‘comes in gently’ and can be easier to work with than some other minerals. For this reason I often recommend it for children, and there are 3 Calcites in the Good Night Baby set.

Calcite is a soft mineral, and is seldom made into jewellery. It is easily scratched by other crystals and coins in purses and pockets, so you need to treat it with care. It is good to incorporate in a charm for a child's bedroom.
