Pinolith, Pinolite, Pinolite Jasper (it isn’t a Jasper) or Flower Stone is a fairly rare, pretty white, grey and black stone originally found only in Austria. In 2018 it was also found in Canada.
It is a soft (4 to 4.5) metamorphic rock composed of graphite-pigmented, light grey to almost black dolomite with inclusions of white magnesite grains that resemble pine kernels and give it its name.
Pinolith is a gentle, soothing stone that connects ‘above and below’. It gently grounds and calms emotions such as anxiety and helps us to step away from the busy thoughts that often churn round and make things worse.
It’s a lovely stone for meditation.
