Yesterday I was photographing beautiful Blue Calcite in the sunshine in the garden. Uploading them today made me think that I could write a little about this wonderful, gentle helper.
Here at Sue Weaver Crystals and Cornwall School of Crystal Healing we do not subscribe to the idea that ‘this crystal does this’ for everyone in any situation. The way that we work is always specific to each person because they are much more than a set of presenting symptoms - everyone is different – totally unique.
However, when we do not have the luxury of working individually with a client, and all that we have to go on is a generalisation, there are some conditions and situations where one crystal will present itself as a good option that is worth trying.
For me, as a Mum and Granny, Blue Calcite is a perfect first crystal to try for babies and children who are unsettled, uncomfortable, in pain, not sleeping, hot and bothered, generally grizzly, etc.
(I’m not supposed to say that crystals can actually help with anything, but it they don’t work they can’t do any harm either, can they? Obviously, if you feel that your child is in need of medical help, go to see your GP or go to A&E. )
This photograph shows a piece of raw, unpolished Blue Calcite.
Calcite is a soft mineral with a soapy-like texture. It comes in a huge range of colours from clear to blue, blue green. turquoise, green, lemon, honey, orange, cream to chocolate brown, pale to deep reddish pink and more. Calcite is the mineral that you see in caves, creating stalagmites, stalactites and many interesting shapes.
In my experience, although it is powerful in its action, Calcite comes in slowly and is easier to integrate that the Quartz family - hence making it good for babies and children.

Of course, Blue Calcite has ‘uses’ beyond helping little Ones. The soothing, comforting, reassuring, cooling energy frequencies work well with everyone and the softness is particularly suited to quiet and/or gentle souls who find life overwhelming. To me it is a Water element stone and so has a particular affinity with the emotions.
Blue Calcite can be blessing and clearing for those who find it a challenge to ‘hold their edges’ - to separate what is truly their own energy from the sea of stimulation all around.
Blue Calcite can help us to express ourselves, and our needs, calmly and clearly and to listen and hear the words of others. It can also help us to hear quiet messages from other dimensions and these can inform and support our creative expression - whatever form that takes.
